Step 0 : Download application documents

Download Guidelines for Applicants for 2025 icon_pdf.gif and read it carefully especially Eligibility Requirements for Applicants on page 2 to 3, Admission Calendar on page 4 and Application Flow Chart on page 15

Step 1 : Check your eligibility

Applicants must satisfy both of the following requirements,(1) and (2).

(1) Must Not have Japanese citizenship. [This includes dual citizenship]

(2) Must fulfill at least one of the following four conditions:

  1. Have completed or be expected to complete at least 12 years of primary to secondary education, or less than 12 years of formal education that is recognized as equivalent by the Japanese Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT)*1, in a country other than Japan by March 31, 2025.
  2. Have completed or be expected to complete at least 12 years of primary to secondary education by March 31, 2025 in an educational institution located in Japan which is based on a foreign country's education system and is recognized by the MEXT or has received certification from the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC), Association of Christian Schools International (ASCI) or the Council of International Schools (CIS). [Those who have studied in a Japanese educational institution, even for a short period of time, during their 12 years of primary and secondary education should undergo the preliminary verification →STEP1.5]
  3. Be in possession of an International Baccalaureate, the German Abitur,  Baccalaureate, or General Certificate of Education Advanced Level (GCE A-Level) attained at a secondary education institution abroad by March 31, 2025. 

      Those who are applicable a),b),c), Go to STEP2    

  d. Be in possession of an educational background that is equivalent to a) above. [This  must undergo preliminary verification before the admission process begins.]     

       Those who are not applicable a),b),c), Go to STEP1.5  

Step 1.5 : Preliminary Verification

Those who are not certain about eligibility are also recommended to submit their documents for the period shown below.

  • What needs to be submitted?

Submit Eligibility Verification Form and Form A /Certificate of Graduation and a copy of passport by e-mail to undergo the Preliminary Verification from June 21 to July 5, 2024.                               

If you are confirmed as ELIGIBLE by Preliminary Verification, go to Step 2.

Step 2 : Submit Application Documents to Admissions Office 

  1. Submit Application Documents to Admissions Office of International Course Program via Online Application System during the application period between August 15 and September 9, 2024.
  2. Successful applicants at the first screening will be announced in early October, 2024.
Important Notes
* Applicants who reside in the countries where the Examination for Japanese University Admission for International Students (EJU) is offered are strongly recommended to take it in June 2024 as a National Standardized Test.
* If the applicant cannot take the EJU, the scores of the standardized tests below can also be acceptable, in place of EJU. ACT, International Baccalaureate, GCE-A level, CBSE (XII), GaoKao, AP.
* Applicants who wish to submit the scores other than EJU and above listed must contact the admission office well in advance.
* All of the applicants including the native English speakers must submit official score report of English proficiency test (either TOEFL or IELTS). [Minimum requirement: TOEFL iBT 70, IELTS (Academic Module) 6.0]
* Scores of English proficiency test and national standard test are valid if examination date is later than August 1, 2022.
* During the second screening (interview) stage some mathematics and physics questions will be asked that have a similar difficulty level as questions in the EJU test.

    Step 3 : Second Screening will be conducted

    Second Screening will be conducted via online in mid to late October, 2024.

    Step 4 : The examination results

    The examination results will be announced through the Online Application System November 12, 2024. The list of successful applicants’ registration numbers will also be posted on the university’s website at 12:00 JST (GMT+9) on November 12, 2024, and can be accessed from the webpage.
