Zhang, Tengyue from Harbin, China -April 2012 admission

ZhangPic.jpgDuring this semester in Kyoto University, I feel very comfortable here. Although studying is busy every day, I can still feel relaxed study atmosphere in KU. Professors open many windows for us, and I start to get familiar with how to research good and suitable material for study effectively and also try to do self-study before classes. There are too many things new for me, and I learn new ideas every day. What make the new life in KU more exciting and what is the most important thing is that I meet lots of new friends here.

When I first met my classmates from different countries, Japan, China, Indonesia and Korea., I learned that although we have different cultural background, use different language, nothing really matters. When I look at the smile on their face, I realize that there is no difference and gap between us. It is pretty nice time when we just hang out and play or have dinner together. At school, discussing homework and preparing presentation are also kind of fun.

What’s more, I joined Taichi club(太極拳サークル). Every Saturday, I go to the gym for exercising. Through this club, I meet more Japanese friends who are seniors in KU. After the club activities, we also go to Cafeteria Renais and chat with each other. I do not only learn Taichi from them, but also get lots of help, such as advice for studying and living here. Besides every weeks’ exercising, when we have free time, sometimes we go to karaoke. For now, I just can sing few Japanese songs, but I’m trying to learn some more nice songs so that next time maybe I can surprise them.

All in all, I love studying life in KU and look forward to new experiences and make new friends here.
