One Day Field Trip 2023
25 students and faculty members enjoyed one day trip to Kobe, Hirakata and Joyo on 28th September. We visited 4 venues where we can learn how the civil engineering works in fields.
- Akashi Kaikyo Bridge/Hashi no Kagakukan and Maiko promenade
- Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake Memorial, Disaster Reduction and Human Renovation Institution
- New Meishin Yodogawa Bridge Construction PC Extra Dosed Bridge Lower Work Site
- Joyo JCT steel bridge construction site
Learning Bridge structural Mechanics at the museum first then moved to the promenade to see the structure of Akashi Kaikyo bridge.
At the DRI; information hub on disaster awareness and prevention established for passing on the experience of the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake to future generations they have learnt a lot from a movie, lectures, hand-on exhibitions and activities.
After the lunch at the Maiko Park area, we left Kobe and moved to, the highlight of this trip, Osaka/Kyoto to see the inside of the ongoing Shin-Meishin express way construction site. The engineers of the NEXCO西日本 warmly welcomed us and taught us how they are processing the construction, what kind of techniques they use, how to deal with difficult conditions and so on. Students were very much interested into these topics and asked many questions. This experience must be invaluable to students as they envision their future as engineers.
