Cai from China-2021 admission

Hello, everyone! My name is Cai Boyuan and I am from China. ICP has a very detailed curriculum in civil engineering. We have four major courses: structural mechanics, geotechnics engineering, hydraulics, and planning. In our senior year, we can choose from a lot of labs to do graduation research according to our interests. ICP gives students the opportunity to comprehensively study all aspects of civil engineering, and also fully respects students' personal wishes and choices.

ICP is not only a course of study but also a warm family for me. Although the amount of content we must learn is very large, the small class sizes provide us with more opportunities to communicate directly with the professors and discuss with our classmates. ICP has a lot of professors and students from all over the world, and we often communicate with each other about the cultural differences between different countries, and we respect and learn from each other. 

ICP organizes some activities every year. At the welcome party for new students, we

introduce ourselves and get to know each other. In the meeting with companies, we discuss career development with people from construction companies and consulting companies. During field trips, we can visit various bridges and highways under construction and learn a lot of knowledge that is not mentioned in textbooks. At the end-of-academic-year-party, we invite some alumni to join and they shared career path and working experience after graduation. The school also offered me the opportunity to go to Shimizu Construction Company for internship this year. I learned how tunnels are constructed and experienced some surveying methods.

I was also impressed by the annual November festival at Kyoto University. We visited a lot of club exhibitions, various bands performed and tasted snacks from all over the world.

In a nutshell, my study and life at ICP was multivariance, wonderful and unforgettable for me.
