Hirotoshi Yamashita from Japan -April 2012 admission
The reason why I decided to choose the international course is every class is taught in English, so I thought that I would be able to master English. However, at the first semester, I could not keep up with the classes at all because of my terrible English skill. So I would try to go abroad to improve my English skill and I went to Toronto in Canada during my summer vacation.
This was my first visit to foreign country. So at first, I was worried whether I would manage to live in Toronto, not Japan. As I thought, I could not make myself understood in English at all at first one month. I always wanted to go back to Japan.
However, a lot of people around me, such as host family, teachers of the English school and friends, supported me. So when one month passed in Canada, I started to listen and speak English a little. I enjoyed my life in Canada at that time. However, I had to go back to Japan. Then, I really really did not want to go back. It was too sad for me.
This visit made me tolerant about foreign cultures. In Canada, there were a lot of unbelievable things for me as a Japanese. However I thought that to accept such things was very important for those who want to play an active part in foreign countries. If I have a chance, I want to go to Toronto again.
