Wanjala, Richard Makokha from Kenya -April 2011 admission

Wajnala.jpgThis was an event in which most Global Engineering students took part in. It was a joint trip for both the students and some members of the staff, which was memorable in that we got a chance to interact with the teachers outside class.

DAY 1.

The first stop in our trip was the Hanshin Express Earthquake Museum in Kobe, where we got a chance to see firsthand the remnants and debris of the bridge and some infrastructures destroyed during the Great Hanshin Earthquake. After the museum, the next stop was the Disaster Reduction & Human Renovation Institution and later that evening convened for a workshop and interaction that was quite refreshing. How could I forget the snow fight we had amongst ourselves on that evening with our professors!

DAY 2.

We visited Amarube viaduct towards the North side. The viaduct was been reconstructed and we later learned that the Engineer overseeing the process was an Old boy. Later we were Izushi bound, where we had a whole lot of experience together, visiting the shrine and enjoying the delicious Soba.

The two day trip couldn’t come at a better time than the end of the semester, after exams, where students took time to unwind and relax their minds.
