I was kindly welcomed by the incredible staff of Shimizu Corporation, to a large-scale railway construction site at Jakarta’s center. The site was brimming with a feeling of anticipation and learning about the tunnel
This internship gave me a great reference point for important questions like; what do civil engineers do, how is knowledge from university applied in the field, and what it is like to work on an international site. This valuable learning experience is sure to help and motivate me through my career in civil engineering.
Liu Yilin from China
Venue: Shiga Pref.
Name of project: Shinmeishin highway construction, Kamita Kamishinmen site
Period : from September 10 to 24, 2025
During my internship at the Shinmeishin highway construction site, I learned how soil and
concrete engineering are applied in practice and observed how safety and quality are
managed on-site. I also gained hands-on experience with surveying instruments, soil data
recording, and drone-based mapping. Through lectures and discussions with engineers, I
understood the importance of planning, teamwork, and ICT tools such as Green Site and
CCUS. This internship not only improved my technical knowledge but also helped me
adapt to fast-paced Japanese communication and deepened my interest in construction
management.
Saya Seike from Japan

Period : from September 8 to 22, 2025
During my internship at TOA, I conducted hydraulic experiments, analyzed data, and visited

construction sites, which made these two weeks very meaningful. I also had the chance to meet various people, experience the atmosphere of a Japanese workplace, and improve my Japanese communication skills. Throughout the experiments, I encountered many small problems, but I was able to overcome them smoothly through my own thinking as well as discussions with others, which gave me a great sense of accomplishment.
